Nuraghic Testimonies

The pre-nuraghic and nuraghic civilisations spread throughout the island from around 3000 BC and along with the Culture of Ozieri have left numerous testimonies to their presence all over the island, among the most noted of these being the Nuraghi and the domus de janas (tombs).

Barumini
In Barumini it is possible to visit the nuraghic village made up of around fifty examples of foundations of circular or elliptical dwellings and the imposing Nuraghe "Su Naraxi", significant from the point of view of megalithic or "protosarda" architecture. Taking the SS131 road to Villamar and proceeding for about a kilometre will bring you to Barumini.

Orroli
In Orroli it is possible to see the "Nuraghe Arrubiu" which has recently been restored and is now open to the public. Also worth visiting are the remains of the archaeological site made up of numerous Menhir, the circle of tombs, the domus de janas, around thirty examples of nuraghi structures, the sacred well of Su Pitzu in the vicinity of the ruins of a prehistoric village and a villa from the age of the Roman Empire.
