The seas around the island are well adapted to this kind of activity, both for beginners with snorkelling, and for experts with full courses of scuba diving, offering diplomas at various levels. Along the coast of Ogliastra and the Gulf of Orosei, you can admire the various species of marine life, underwater caves, and wrecks.
From the beach of Cala Luna, it is possible to participate in an interesting dive: at a depth of 30mt, there is the wreck of an Italian merchant ship; Il Nasello, sunk during the Second World War. Or at Portu Cuau, resting on the bed is the wreck of the merchant ship; Levante, sunk during the 60's.
The diving points start from the Scoglie Rossi at Arbatax, through the Isle of Ogliastra, Perda Longa, Capo Monte Santo, Cala Scirocco, Cala Tramontana and others.
There are also various kinds of dives; underwater caves, siphons, quick dives, barrier dives, and wrecks. The depths of the dives varies from 8m to 35m according to dive type.

The scuba diving courses can be attended by all at the diving centres that you can find in Arbatax, Barisardo, S, Maria Navarrese.. It is also possible to hire equipment and book guided night dives to see the wrecks and caves along the coastline.
Activities include recreational diving courses, breathtaking dives and much more: snorkeling trips by dinghy along the wonderful Ogliastra’s coasts, underwater digital photography and many other PADI specialities, funny underwater experiences for children and HSA courses for the disabled aimed at the discovery of the Sixth Continent, First Aid courses.

you wish to improve your underwater skills, or even go pro, the Diving Center will be happy to help you! You may pick your favourite from Recreational Courses to Professional Programmes. They arrange excursions every day. Non divers will have the chance of going on a guided snorkeling excursion and watch the underwater world.
