Desserts and sweets, along with bread, are a fundamental part of Sardinian cuisine; in their preparation their methods, handed down through the generations, are kept to with great diligence. These sweets are ever-present not only for religious celebrations but for festivals in general. They are made using nutritious, natural ingredients such as honey, cheeses, ricotta, almonds and cooked wine as opposed to the rest of Italy where less healthy ingredients like chocolate and cream are used.
